Commuters were in standstill traffic on I-285 this morning, Sept. 30, after a man walked into the road.

Capt. Steven Fore with DeKalb County Police said the man entered I-285 northbound south of Glenwood Road at around 8:30 a.m.

“Multiple calls were received of a male walking in the roadway,” Fore said. “Officers arrived on the scene and the male became combative. Officers have him in custody. During the incident some lanes of I-285 were shut down. Everyone is OK all lanes should be open again shortly.”

Police haven’t verified the man’s ID and had no additional information.
