Roadwork in metro Atlanta resumes this weekend

After a Labor Day weekend hiatus, the Georgia Department of Transportation is back to work on metro Atlanta roads this weekend.

GDOT will be closing lanes on I-75 and I-285 this weekend, creating potential delays for drivers.

Here is the to-do list, courtesy of GDOT.

– On I-285, three northbound and three southbound lanes will close from SR 10/ Memorial Drive to East Ponce de Leon/ Church Street nightly from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday for striping;

– On the southwest side of I-285, two southbound lanes will close from Bolton Road to the I-20 interchange from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– On I-285, rolling closures will take place on two northbound lanes from SR 154/SR 166/Campbellton Road/ Langford Parkway to South Atlanta Road  from 9 p.m., Fridayuntil 5 a.m., Monday;

– One westbound lane will close on I-285 from the I-85 interchange to SR 14 SPUR/ SR 279/ Old National Highway from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– On I-285, two eastbound and two westbound lanes will close at Flat Shoals Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 12 p.m., Sunday for paving and bridge work;

– On Georgia (State Route) 400, one northbound and one southbound lane will close at Northridge Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Saturday;

– On I-20, three westbound lanes will close from Lee Street to Langhorn Street and two eastbound lanes will close from Langhorn Street to Windsor Street from 12 a.m., until 4 p.m., Saturday and 12 a.m., until 10:30 a.m., Sunday;

– Lastly on I-20, two eastbound lanes will close from Almon Road to SR 12/US 278 and the westbound ramp from  SR 12/US 278 to I-20 will close continuously from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– On I-85, two northbound and two southbound lanes will close from SR 139/ Riverdale Road to Cleveland Avenue nightly from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday for striping;

– On I-75, two southbound lanes and one northbound lane will close at the SR 5/I-575 interchange from 8 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– Utility work will require a traffic pace on I-575 northbound and southbound from Barrett Parkway to SR 92 on from 7 a.m., until 8 a.m., Saturday;

– The same work will require a traffic pace on I-75 northbound and southbound from Barrett Parkway to SR 92 from 7 a.m., until 8 a.m., Sunday;

– The Express Lanes project will require one northbound and one southbound lane closure on I-75 at Chastain Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 12 p.m., Saturday;

– One southbound lane and part of the off ramps will close on I-75 southbound at SR 120 Loop/ North Marietta Parkway from 9 p.m., Friday until 12 p.m., Saturday;

– The Express Lanes project will also require a traffic detour at Barrett Parkway. Traffic exiting Barrett Parkway will be detoured onto I-75 southbound from 9 p.m., Friday until 12 p.m., Saturday;

– On I-575, the Express Lanes project will require one northbound and one southbound lane to close at Bells Ferry Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 12 p.m., Saturday;

– Lastly, work on the Express Lanes project will require one lane closure on the I-285 eastbound and westbound collector-distributer lanes from 9 p.m., Friday until 12 p.m., Saturday;

– Work on the South Metro Express lanes will require one southbound and two northbound lane closures on I-75 from SR 138/ Stockbridge Highway to SR 155/ McDonough Road from 9 p.m., Fridayuntil 5 a.m., Monday;

– Work on West Wesley Road at SR 3/ US 41/ Northside Drive will require a road closure and traffic detour. Traffic will be detoured around the intersection from 9 p.m., Friday until 4 a.m., Monday for water line installation (see attachment);

– SR 3/US 41/ Northside Drive will close from Spelman Lane to Mitchell Street for the “Rise Up and Run 5K” from 7:30 a.m., until 9:30 a.m., Saturday;

– One lane will close on SR 279/Old National Highway from the Fayette County line to SR 14/ US 29/ Roosevelt Highway from 8 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday for resurfacing;

– On SR 154/ Memorial Drive, one lane will close between Moreland Avenue and Wilkinson Drive and one lane will close on SR 154/ Memorial Drive between East Lake Drive and Candler Road both closures are from 9 a.m., until 3 p.m., Saturday; and finally

– Intermittent closures will take place on SR 140/ Holcomb Bridge Road from Ellard Drive/ Barnwell Road to River Exchange Drive/Station Mill Road from 6 a.m., until 12 p.m., Saturday.
