A Decatur High School senior’s blossoming music career will get a big boost in the coming weeks.

Singer songwriter Sydney Rhame has auditioned for Season 9 of NBC’s “The Voice,” according to her mom, Decatur School Board Member Julie Rhame.

The show will premiere on Sept. 21, though it’s not yet known when Sydney Rhame’s audition will air. She does appear briefly in this clip previewing the upcoming season.

According to her biography, Rhame began writing music when she was six years old and has written more than 100 original songs. She plays the piano and the guitar.

“Famed Vocal Coach Jan Smith of Jan Smith Studios, whose notable client list includes Justin Bieber, Usher and Sugarland, took Sydney on as a client in 2009 to further develop her as a performing artist,” her biography notes.

Rhame played at Eddie’s Attic a year ago and performed her song, “On top of the World.”
