DeKalb Police announce arrest in road rage incident

A man accused of shooting a woman in an act of road rage is in custody, DeKalb County Police say.

According to WSB-TV, on Oct. 12, Angelina Christiano was driving her yellow Chevrolet Corvette on Highway 78 when she got into an an altercation with the driver of a Ford Mustang. Officers told the station that the Mustang pulled up behind her and she motioned for him to go around her. The driver of the Mustang responded by shooting at Christiano, leaving her in serious condition. To read the full account from WSB-TV, click here.

“Detectives investigating this case identified a suspect and obtained warrants for two counts of aggravated assault, one count of possession of firearm by a convicted felon and one count of possession of firearm during the commission of a crime,” a press release from the DeKalb Police Department says. “The suspect was already in jail on unrelated charges out of DeKalb County.”

Police identified the man as Jose Dionicio Ovalles. Capt. Frank Braun with DeKalb County Police said Ovalles was in jail in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation. He said it’s possible the mustang he was allegedly driving was also stolen.
