For over 25 years HOI has partnered with the people of Central America to bring improvement in the areas of health, education, spirituality, economic development, and agriculture through asset based community development and short-term mission trips.”

Former Mayor Floyd has worked extensively with the organization. The press release said, “Floyd has been serving the people of Honduras with HOI since its inception in 1989. He designed and implemented the waste-water treatment plan and infrastructure for Rancho Paraiso, HOI’s base of operations in Honduras.”

Floyd told Decaturish that HOI CEO Jerry Eickhoff was instrumental in getting him involved. “It’s a great organization. They do a lot of good to assist those people down there,” Floyd said.

Roasters include Stacey Abrams, Georgia House Minority Leader, Walter Drake, another former Decatur mayor, and Patti Garrett, Decatur Mayor Pro Tem.

Floyd said he’ll put up with the evening of ribbing for a good cause. “I’m not too keen on being roasted, but I’ve been a long-time supporter of HOI, and I’m anxious to do anything I can that might help them garnish some support,” Floyd said.
