There is never a shortage of restaurant news around here…

The staff of Revival Decatur, the recently opened restaurant by celebrity Chef Kevin Gillespie, fed the Foo Fighters over the weekend. A photo posted on Instagram said the team served up fried chicken, meatloaf, caramelized onion grits, and more, finishing off the meal with chocolate cake.

Revival also announced it will host “Bacon Explosion” on October 24. Gillespie is teaming up with BBQ Addicts’ Jason Day. An announcement said, “From noon to 3 p.m., guests can savor the bacon-wrapped, bacon-stuffed barbecue sausage dish that puts all others to shame.” Attendance is limited to 100 people. Tickets can be purchased at Xorbia. In other Revival news, the restaurant announced new hours — it will be closed on Mondays, but will serve dinner all day on Saturdays, beginning at 11 a.m.

Two Decatur restaurants will be featured as part of a “Georgia Grown” dinner at the James Beard House in New York. Chef Savannah Haseler of Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards will join four other Georgia chefs, along with The Pinewood’s Julian Goglia, who will be mixing cocktails for each dish of the five-course meal. You can see the full menu for the dinner on Thursday, October 15 on the James Beard site. Cooking there is considered quite an honor.
