Decatur Police will hold a bicycle registration on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the Decatur Farmers Market.

Police say bikes are commonly stolen and registering them allows officers to be able to quickly find the owner of a recovered bike.

“Bicycle registration includes bringing your bicycle, providing owner contact information, having the manufacturer and serial number documented and having a numbered decal applied to and a photo taken of your bicycle. The process takes just a few minutes,” an announcement from Decatur Police said.

Police say the information is kept in a secured database that only police department staff can access.

The Wednesday Farmers Market takes place at First Baptist Church Decatur at 308 Clairemont Ave. from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

There is no charge to register a bike. Police will also register scooters that do not meet the size requirements for state tag registration.
