Tucker, GA. – On the morning of December 23, 2015 DeKalb Police received an allegation of a sexual assault committed by an on duty DeKalb County Police Officer.

DeKalb County Police Special Victims Unit immediately began the investigation.  As a result of their investigation Officer Darren Dye-Harriel, a one year employee, was arrested and charged hours later.  Dye-Harriel has been charged with Aggravated Sodomy, Kidnapping, Making False Statements and Violation of Oath of Office.  He has been lodged in the DeKalb County Jail.

“I am deeply disturbed by these allegations.” said Interim Chief James Conroy.  “We will not tolerate any such criminal actions.  I am pleased with the swift investigative actions of our detectives, which led to the arrest and charges in the case.”

Dye-Harriel has been placed on Administrative Leave pending an internal investigation.
