The Decatur Police Department is holding a post-holiday bicycle registration event this Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Registration will take place at police headquarters, located at 420 West Trinity Place.

According to Lt. Jennifer Ross, “Bicycle registration includes bringing your bicycle, providing owner contact information, having the manufacturer and serial number documented and having a numbered decal applied to and a photo taken of your bicycle.”

The registration process takes a few minutes and there is no charge, Ross said. All information is kept in a secured database. Registration helps police connect recovered bicycles with their owners.

The Police Department will also register scooters that do not meet the size requirements for state tag registration.
