Residents experiencing a disruption of water service due to a water main break on Superior Avenue can expect more disruptions on Wednesday.

Despite initially predicting the repairs would be completed on Monday evening, Dec. 28, the repairs continued on Tuesday, Dec. 29. The county now says the repairs will continue for a third day on Wednesday, Dec. 30.

The county says it will restore water pressure this evening.

“Water is temporarily being restored to affected areas,” a press release from the county says. “Businesses and residences will have water overnight, but service will be interrupted again tomorrow as crews continue to repair the 14-inch water main on Superior Avenue. Residents may experience reduced water pressure during this time. Crews will remain on site throughout the night.  Weather permitting, repairs will continue on Wednesday.”

According to the county, the break occurred at 7 p.m. on Dec. 28 on North Superior Avenue between North Decatur and Willow Lane.

“DWM contractors have been in the process of replacing the existing service line with a new line since late this summer,” the press release from the county says.

Readers say the break has caused water pressure issues all the way to Emory Commons.
