The closure of the Willis Park gate in Avondale Estates has been extended because of recent inclement weather.

A city email said the gate will be fully functional within the next two to three weeks.

The gate was supposed to reopen Tuesday, Jan. 26. This is the second delay to the gate reopening.

The email said, “The City thanks everyone for their understanding during this time. An update will be provided within the coming weeks.”

Renovations on Willis Park began last fall. The city said construction would last about five months.

Willis Park, named after town founder George Francis Willis, is located off of Dartmouth Avenue and across from the Museum School on Forrest Boulevard. After renovations, the park will have a new entrance, pavilion, and new playground equipment.
