GDOT: Delays expected due to I-75 express lanes and sign structure work

The Georgia Department of Transportation says that construction of the I-75 express lanes and sign structure work this weekend will require closing lanes and will create traffic delays.

Here is the complete list of projects scheduled for the weekend of Jan. 30.

– The Express Lanes project will require a traffic pace on the I-285 eastbound collector distributer lanes between Cobb Parkway to the I-75 interchange. The traffic shift will require all the traffic to slow down to allow crews to complete construction work. The traffic pace will take place anytime from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Saturday;

– One lane will close on I-75 southbound over Barrett Parkway from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Saturday;

– One northbound lane will close on I-75 between Barrett Parkway and Chastain Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Saturday;

– On I-75, two northbound lanes will close between SR 280/Delk Road and Windy Hill Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– On I-75 southbound, one lane will close between SR 120 Loop/ South Marietta Parkway and SR 280/ Delk Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Saturday;

– One lane will close on the I-75 southbound on-ramp from SR 280/Delk Road and the on-ramp from the Canton Connector from 9:30 a.m., until 4 p.m., Saturday;

– A traffic detour will take place on the I-75 southbound exit ramp to SR 280/Delk Road from 9 p.m., Saturday until 5 a.m., Sunday;

– On I-75 southbound, one lane will close at SR 280/Delk Road from 9 p.m., Saturday until 5 a.m., Sunday;

– A traffic pace on I-575 will slow down traffic traveling on all northbound and southbound lanes between Bells Ferry Road and SR 92/Alabama Road from 7 a.m., until 10 p.m., Sunday;

– A flagging operation will take place on Bells Ferry Road under I-75 between Manuel Drive and Bells Ferry Lane from 9:30 a.m., until 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday;

– Work on the South Metro Express Lanes will require one northbound lane and shoulder closure on I-675 at SR 138/ Stockbridge Road continuously from 7 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– Rolling lane closures will take place on I-75/I-85 (Downtown Connector) southbound between University Avenue and the Brookwood Split from 9 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– One lane will close on Atlanta Road continuously from 9 a.m., Friday until 4 p.m., Saturday. Law enforcement will be inside of the lane closure to help traffic flow;

– One lane will close on I-285 westbound between SR 279/ Old National Highway and the I-85 interchange from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Saturday;

– Two lanes will close on the I-285 westbound ramp to I-85 northbound for concrete rehabilitation. Traffic will be detoured to the Plesantdale Road exit and merge onto I-85 northbound. Law enforcement will be on in the work zone on the Pleasantdale Road collector-distributer lane directing traffic as needed. The closure will take place from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– Sign structure work will require one northbound and one southbound lane closure between SR 120 Loop/ South Marietta Parkway  and SR 120 Loop/North Marietta Parkway from 6 a.m., until 5 p.m., Saturday;

– Sign structure work will also require two westbound and one eastbound lane closures on I-285 at Bouldercrest Road from 9 p.m., Saturday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– Additionally, sign structure work on I-285 will require two westbound lane closures between SR 139/Riverdale Road and the I-85 interchange from 12 p.m., Saturday until 5 a.m., Monday;

– Lastly, sign structure work on I-285 will require one westbound lane closure at SR 54/Jonesboro Road from 9 a.m., until 12 p.m., Saturday;

– On I-20, one eastbound lane and the shoulder will close between SR 70/Fulton Industrial Boulevard and the I-285 interchange from 9 p.m., Friday until 7 p.m., Sunday;

– Also on I-20, two eastbound lanes will close between SR 139/ Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard from  10 p.m., Friday until 7 p.m., Sunday;

– One lane will close on SR 237/Piedmont Road at Habersham Road from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday; and finally

– Film crews will shoot a movie on SR 139/Ralph David Abernathy between Laurel Avenue to Inman Street from 9 a.m., Thursday until 6 a.m., Saturday.
