The Avondale Children’s Choir has been invited to sing at Carnegie Hall.

The choir, made up of singers from Avondale Estates and Decatur, is raising funds to go to New York in June, according to the choir website.

The choir has set up a GoFundMe account and is asking the community to donate before the end of March to help it reach its $25,000 goal.

The GoFundMe site says, “imagine the impact it will have for these kids when they see that hundreds of people pay attention to what they do and want to support their efforts. All donations are welcome, but imagine the impact of 25,000 people giving a dollar each… or 1000 people giving $25 each….. it adds up to so much more.”

The Carnegie Hall concert is set for June 12. Money raised will pay for the singers’ airfare, hotel, meals, busing, “and hopefully a New York site or two.”

The Avondale Children’s Choir website says the children sing both classical and popular music favorites.
