A long-standing eyesore in Avondale Estates will soon stand no more.

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, crews from Atlanta Demolition could be seen taking down the unfinished steel structure located at the corner of East College Ave. and Maple St. The notorious half-finished building, referred to as the “erector set” by locals, was constructed in 2008 and was supposed to be the new home of the Finders Keepers Consignment store. It was all part of a larger plan by developer Century/AG LLC that fell apart. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2010.

Recently the city asked the building’s new owner, Euramex, to remove the structure.

Decaturish contributor Travis Hudgons was nearby and sent in these photos of the work in progress. Buh bye, erector set.
