Construction of Dairy Queen at new apartment development could begin soon
The long-awaited return of the Decatur Dairy Queen may be at hand.
Kent Collins, with Centro Development, LLC said construction of the new Dairy Queen store in the Arlo apartment development on East Trinity Place “should begin in the next few weeks.”
The Dairy Queen, previously located on East Trinity Place, closed in February of 2014. There was some uncertainty initially whether the Momin family would reopen the restaurant in the new development being built in the same location.
Construction of a sewer line has put the Arlo apartment project a month behind schedule, the developer says.
A contractor began installing the sewer line in January.
The development, located at East Trinity Place, will contain 210 apartment units when completed.
Construction on the Arlo development began in September of 2014, following a dispute with DeKalb County over sewer fees that delayed the project.
