A reader recently noticed that some of the bus stops in Oakhurst along Oakview Road and East Lake Drive have been covered and now have a sign notifying the public that the stops will be closing soon.

“Are they cutting bus service around here? The buses are usually always empty anyway, but I found this interesting,” the reader said.

MARTA confirmed it is making changes to the routes that serve Oakhurst.

“These changes are part of our April mark-up, which will result in bus service changes to the Oakhurst community effective April 16, 2016,” a spokesperson for MARTA says. “Bus stops that will be closed as part of these changes have been covered with bags carrying a bus stop closure message until they are removed after the changes take effect.”

Here is a list of the changes affecting Oakhurst, provided by MARTA:

§ Route 24 will no longer operate down East Lake Dr and Oakview Rd.

§ Route 34-Gresham Rd/Clifton Springs will be realigned to operate on East Lake Dr and 2ndAve.

§ Route 123-N DeKalb/Belvedere will continue to provide service to the community and Oakhurst commercial district with no changes.
