Developer Selig Enterprises is exploring a mixed-use project for its property in downtown Decatur.

Scott Selig, Vice President of Acquisitions and Development at Selig Enterprises, told Decaturish that the property his company owns at the corner of Church Street and Commerce Drive has potential. Selig enterprises owns 777 Commerce Drive, 547 Church Street, 529 Church Street, and 523 Church Street, according to property tax records.

The property consists of parking lots and converted warehouses. It’s near a DeKalb Medical building. Selig said the residential component of the mixed use could be apartments, condos or a hotel.

“The site is heavily underused,” Selig said. “We’ve known that. We’re exploring a mixed-use development. We’re working with architects [to determine} what exactly will be the best combination of uses or which use would be best for that site. When that time is right, we’ll go to the city with what we’re comfortable should be developed.”

Selig also developed the Suburban Plaza shopping center.
