Decatur Police say a man stole the tires off an SUV early Tuesday morning, June 14.

Police responded to the call in the 900 block of 3rd Avenue  at 5:40 a.m.

“The complainant reported she heard odd loud noises coming from outside,” Decatur Police Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “She went outside and observed a large white vehicle, possibly a jeep, truck, or open backed SUV, parked on 3^rdAvenue near her vehicle. As she approached the white vehicle, she saw a large male figure rise from the rear of her vehicle and jump into the back of the white vehicle. The suspect vehicle immediately drove away, indicating that a driver was present along with the suspect. The complainant discovered that her vehicle’s tires had been stolen.”

No other information was provided about the suspect and there’s no information about whether other tire thefts were reported in the area.

In March, Decatur Police responded to calls about tires and rims stolen from vehicles in the 500 block of McKoy Street and 100 block of Spring Street.
