Vision Hospitality Group has confirmed that it will soon break ground on the development of a six-story Hampton Inn slated for downtown Decatur.

It is projected to be open by spring of 2017 and will be next to the Courtyard by Marriott.

A spokesperson for the company told Decaturish, “We’re waiting on a few more things. We’re going to be breaking ground any day on that one. It’s in motion.”

Assistant City Manager Andrea Arnold said the developer hasn’t received a land disturbance permit as of Aug. 11.

“There is an easement issue that they are working to resolve,” she said.

The hotel will have 145 rooms. It will also have an indoor saltwater swimming pool, a meeting space, a 24-hour business center and a fitness center.

A press release from Vision Hospitality Group says, “The hotel will be located in one of the most vibrant and eclectic communities in Atlanta. Centrally located in Decatur, guests will have access to a spectrum of authentic restaurants, boutique shops and a multi-modal transit hub, all within walking distance of the hotel.”

The spokesperson told Decaturish that Vision Hospitality likes the locations’ proximity to restaurants in downtown Decatur.

“It’s in walking distance to a lot of the restaurants and everything Decatur has,” she said.
