Artists working to design a mural that will be painted on a MARTA overpass at West Trinity and Atlanta Avenue will unveil their first draft to the public on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

There will be a public meeting about the project beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will be held at the Ebster Recreation Center, located at 105 Electric Avenue.

“If you live, work, play, or drive/bike/walk/ride MARTA under or around the proposed mural location, or if you care about public art and are curious, come give us your input,” the meeting announcement says.

The Decatur Arts Alliance selected the MILAGROS Collective, from Miami and New Orleans, to head up the mural project.

Last year, the city received a $15,000 grant to paint the mural.

There have already been two input meetings on the project.

According to the meeting announcement, “Milagros Collective took that information and came up with a design that incorporates what they heard and saw.  Additionally, participants drew images and/or pasted pictures on tabletop butcher block paper that the artists took to use for reference.”
