Decatur Police report that on Sept. 19, just before midnight, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that happened on Devonshire Avenue at Melrose Avenue.

“The victim reported that approximately five minutes earlier he was riding his bicycle westbound on Devonshire Avenue when a vehicle passed him and stopped at the intersection at Melrose Avenue,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “The suspect exited the front passenger side of the vehicle and pointed a handgun at the victim.”

The victim fell backwards. The suspect started going through his pockets and took his cell phone and wallet case.

“The suspect got back into the vehicle and the vehicle sped off south on Melrose Avenue,” Ross said. “The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 20-years-old, approximately 5’10′, thin build, wearing a white tank top and a white hockey mask. The suspect vehicle was described as older model, white and emitting a loud knocking noise. The victim was not injured.”
