North Decatur Square, a mixed-use development that includes a Whole Foods 365 store, is officially a go.

The DeKalb County Commission approved zoning for the project on Sept. 27,, developer S.J. Collins said. The development will be located at North Decatur Road and Church Street and will include 200 to 300 apartment units.

Specifically, the commission approved an application rezoning the land from industrial to mixed use, an application to rezone from commercial development corridor to a town center and an application for a special land-use permit that would allow for a drive-through bank.

“[The] rezoning is the culmination of the hard work and support of the partners on the project, our elected officials and, most importantly, the public,” Jeff Garrison of S.J. Collins Enterprises said. “The vision for a connected, intentional development where this community can gather to socialize and share experiences can now move forward.”

The development will break ground in 2017. There will be an acre of park space, wi-fi, multi-use trails, pocket parks, chef-driven fast casual restaurants and retail, the press release says. The development is expected to open in 2018.
