Mellow Mushroom, a stoner-themed pizza chain, was a downtown Decatur staple before it abruptly closed in 2014.

But the company is still looking for a slice of Decatur’s pizza business.

On Dec. 5, Mellow Mushroom is returning to Decatur, moving into the  space formerly occupied by Dos Madres Cantina and New Orleans SnoBall Cafe. It will not be far from the previous Mellow Mushroom location, which is now a  DaVinci’s Pizzeria.

The new restaurant is owned by Thomas Hart. The Decatur Mellow Mushroom’s new general manager, Mike Dibella said, the restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. He said the hours could be flexible, depending on the demand.

“If there’s a line at the door,we’re not going to be shutting down early,” he said. “Everybody is going to get some pizza.”

Dibella said there will be daily lunch specials ranging from $7 to $10.
