Charis Books & More is relocating from its Little Five Points location to Decatur, Atlanta INtown reports.

INtown says the feminist  book store has been a “fixture” in the location for 42 years.

“Elizabeth Anderson, executive director of the bookstore’s nonprofit arm Charis Circle, said in an email that the new location is directly across from the Agnes Scott College campus at 184 South Candler Street in a freestanding, Victorian-style house,” INtown reports.

The email from Anderson says the building’s current location on Euclid Avenue has been sold. She says the new building will be larger than the bookstore’s current location. It will have space for daytime events, reading groups, and social gatherings, she wrote.

Agnes Scott will be making an investment in the project, the letter says. There’s also a fundraising drive to support to move.

“Now, more than ever, we need a secure physical place to gather, to explore ideas, plan for the future, build new strategies, and fight the coming tide of oppression and violence which threatens our already marginalized communities,” the letter says. “For 42 years, Charis has been a shelter, a sanctuary, a home. Please dig deep and give as generously as you are able this year so that we can help ensure that safer spaces like Charis Circle can exist, grow, and thrive in these unprecedentedly dangerous times.”
