The city of Decatur is warning residents about lane and road closures related to the installation of the Google Fiber network in the city.

“Google Fiber will continue to work within the City of Decatur this month,” a press release from the city says. “In addition to the underground utility work, they are starting to install aerial infrastructure and upgrading poles.”

The city provided this list of areas that will see aerial work this week:

– 444 Bridlewood Circle

– 1370 Church Street

– 143 Mt Vernon Drive

– 612 Glendale Avenue

– 243 Sycamore Place

– 848 Sycamore Street

– 231 Coventry Road.

“Both the underground and aerial work will require lane closures/road closures in certain areas,” the city’s press release says.

Anyone who has questions about the work can call: 877-454-6959

Last month, the city announced Google had begun fiber installation work on the south side of Decatur.

Google Fiber confirmed its expansion to the Atlanta market in January 2015. At the time, company representatives said the build out would take two years. The service already is available in some places in Atlanta. In the last few weeks, Google Fiber has laid off some of its staff and has scaled back plans for high speed internet in 10 cities. The company says its plans for Atlanta are unaffected and everything is still a go.
