The city of Decatur is advising residents that a portion of West Trinity Place will be closed this week to accommodate the painting of a mural on a MARTA overpass.

“Beginning … Wednesday, December 14, W. Trinity Place will be closed between Atlanta Avenue and Water Street for the painting of the MARTA mural,” a notice from the city says. “The street will be closed Wednesday-Friday (December 14-16),  9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Decatur Police will be present to assist with traffic detours.”

The Decatur Arts Alliance selected the MILAGROS Collective, from Miami and New Orleans, to head up the mural project. Design concepts were unveiled Aug. 31. The mural will cost $30,000, and will be partially funded with a $15,000 grant.
