There’s a phone scam going on and the callers are trying to convince people they missed jury duty.

Lt. Jennifer Ross said, “The caller will claim to be an officer with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and state you failed to show up for jury duty and an arrest warrant will be issued. The scammer will then instruct you to pay a fine by way of adding funds to prepaid moneypak/green dot cards that will be reimbursed once things are cleared up.”

Ross said anyone getting these calls should hang up and should definitely not make any payments by phone.

“If you fear that you missed jury duty and are concerned, contact the jury services division at the courthouse for the county in which you live,” she said.
