A school counselor will be giving the classic sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll spiel at Decatur High School (DHS) on Thursday, Feb. 9. This time, it’s geared towards parents.

The Decatur Parents Network is organizing the event, which begins at 7 p.m.. Parents in Decatur created the group to tackle concerns about risky behavior among teenagers, including alcohol and drug use.

Ken Jackson, counselor at DHS, is the featured speaker and plans to “have frank conversation about teens, dating, and sex.”

Jackson’s agenda includes informing parents about Georgia’s sex laws for teens.

“Parents have the greatest influence on their teens’ behavior,” the event announcement says. “Dr. Jackson will show you how to connect with your teen on this important, delicate subject and provide direction about where to turn for reliable, helpful resources and assistance.”

After his presentation, there will be time for questions.
