Decatur Police responded to the scene an overturned vehicle near The Imperial restaurant over the weekend that occurred when an SUV struck another SUV parked along the road.

There were no injuries and the driver of the overturned vehicle was cited for a failure to maintain his lane and an expired tag. There’s no indication drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident, which a witness said occurred just before midnight on Saturday. The police did not administer a drug or alcohol test to the driver, according to the police report.

According to the report the driver of a 2006 Honda CRV was traveling East Bound on West College Avenue near the intersection with Mead Road when he struck an unoccupied 2007 Honda CRV that was parked on the curb. The police report says the vehicle “failed to maintain its lane” and rear-ended the parked vehicle, causing the driver’s vehicle to overturn. The driver had to be removed from the vehicle, the police report says. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene. The incident generated a large police response, according to a witness.

The driver of the overturned vehicle refused treatment by Decatur Rescue. No other injuries were reported.
