A man is accused of murdering another man on a MARTA train last week at the Avondale MARTA station.

Charles Richey, 49, is accused of stabbing the unidentified victim.

The news was first reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the incident was confirmed by a MARTA spokesperson. The victim reportedly did not have an ID on him. The attack allegedly occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Jan. 24.

Decaturish has requested a copy of the incident report from MARTA police.

Richey is facing felony murder charges and is currently in jail, according to DeKalb County’s Online Judicial System.

Update: MARTA released the full report on Feb. 3. That report cleared up some of the confusion surrounding the circumstances of the murder and established that the victim was asking for money before allegedly being attacked by the suspect. To read the full story, click here
