This year’s Mead Rd. Mardi Gras parade is on Feb. 25, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parade lines up at the 4/5 Academy in Decatur.

“After winding through Oakhurst, the fun continues at The Imperial with live music, Cajun cuisine and kids activities,” the event announcement says. “All proceeds from food and drinks will fund [Decatur Education Foundation] grants that support music education in our schools.”

The event began in 2005.

“Over the years, our little parade has grown from one wagon/float with a few kids and adults to a multi-wagon/float extravaganza with lots of kids and our own homegrown brass band,” the event’s Facebook page says.

All food and drink proceeds will benefit the Decatur Education Foundation.
