Avondale will celebrate groundbreaking of multi-use project

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 10, to kick off a new mixed-use project in Avondale Estates.

Last month developer South City Partners closed on 3.17 acres on the north side of East College Avenue. The project will be located between Hillyer Street and Sams Crossing.

It will feature 197 apartment units in a four story-building. It will include a gateway park intended to preserve trees on the property. The development will have 8,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space. There will be a rear parking deck with additional on-street parking. In a press release the city says there will be “generous sidewalks and street trees to enhance the pedestrian experience.”

The event starts at 11 a.m. and will be held at 2700 East College Avenue in Avondale Estates.
