After DeKalb Association of REALTORS procured a $3,000 grant for Johns Homestead Park in Tucker, they went to work.

On Aug. 17, the DeKalb Association of REALTORS and Friends of John’s Homestead came together to help clean up green space around the future boardwalk.

Johns Homestead Park is 50 acres of green space, which includes Twin Brothers Lakes and contains the historic Johns Homestead.

The property was owned by John Johns, a Revolutionary War veteran, and his old home is one of the oldest remaining houses in DeKalb County, according to johnshomesteadpark.org.

There are plans as of now to build a boardwalk for a creek that runs through the park.
