The AJC Decatur Book Festival begins tonight and lasts through Sunday, Sept. 3.

The festival is “the largest independent book festival in the country and one of the five largest overall.” There is no cost to attend.

The event starts with the Keynote and Kidnote events on Sept. 1, and tickets to both have sold out. The Kidnote event features Henry Winkler and the Keynote event is a journalism panel featuring Brooke Gladstone, Wesley Lowery and Carolyn Ryan.

The Decatur square is the center of the festivities, or where you can get books signed, visit a panel discussion, listen to live music, or even watch cooking demonstrations.

The festival is family-friendly, complete with an interactive area for kids, a Good Night Moon room and Decatur’s own Platform 9 3/4 from the “Harry Potter” series.

Attendees are encouraged to visit Little Shop of Stories, a local bookshop on the square for a festival guide and to check out their book selection for all ages.
