Feminist sketch comedy group Critical Crop Top to debut new show

Critical Crop Top returns this month with Afterlife, a “new spooky sketch comedy, music, and poetry,” with a debut at the Avondale Towne Cinema.

On Oct. 21 at 8 p.m., the cinema will host an opening party for Afterlife to follow their summer series, Summer of Sketch. Following the debut party, there will be two performances in the Highland Inn and Ballroom lounge, one on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. and the second on Oct. 27 at 8 p.m.

The last show, on Oct. 27, is in partnership with the Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence at Georgia State University to raise money for the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network.

Critical Crop Top is a production company led by women, known for their web series, comedic short films, and the Feminine Mistake Podcast. The company states their mission as “to produce comedic content from a feminist perspective and provide opportunities for women and minorities to write, direct, and perform their own material.”
