Decatur Police said that two men attempted to rob the Verizon store on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Police responded to a call about an armed robbery in the 300 block of West Ponce around 7 p.m.

“A Verizon employee reported he was taking out the trash when he was approached from behind by two unknown men who attempted to force their way into the store,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “The employee was able to pull the door closed and lock the door.”

Ross provided descriptions of the two suspects:

#1: Black male, approximately 5’11”, slender build, dark complexion, light eyes wearing a black bandanna across his face, black beanie hat, black hoodie and black pants, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

#2: Male of unknown race, approximately 6’01”, slender, brown eyes with long eye lashes, wearing a  black bandanna across his face, and a black hoodie with a colorful logo on the front consisting of red, green and yellow.

“The suspects fled the area in a white Dodge sedan, a Charger or Avenger, being driven by a third suspect,” Ross said. “The Verizon employee was not injured.”
