DeKalb County School District to host a redistricting meeting on Jan. 11

This Thursday, Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m., the DeKalb County School District is hosting a public meeting to focus on redistricting elementary, middle, and high schools in Stone Mountain and Clarkston.

The meeting will be held at Rockbridge Elementary School, located at 445 Halwick Way in Stone Mountain.

All community members are invited to hear possible options to fix overcrowding at schools in Stone Mountain and Clarkston, an issue that was brought up by the community back in November. Attendees will get the chance to give school officials their input about the options being considered.

The following schools could be affected by redistricting:

– Allgood Elementary School

– Dunaire Elementary School

– Hambrick Elementary School

– Indian Creek Elementary School

– Jolly Elementary School

– Rockbridge Elementary School

– Stone Mill Elementary School

– Stone Mountain Elementary School

– Freedom Middle School

– Stone Mountain Middle School

– Clarkston High School

– Stone Mountain High School.

According to a recent press release, “the staff recommended plan will be available on the redistricting website at noon on Jan. 11, 2018.”
