Scottdale Early Learning, Inc. recently chose a new Board Chairman, Cynthia Livingston, to lead the board in its 41st year of service.

Livingston works for SunTrust Bank, serving as senior vice president and relationship manager, working with nonprofits, religious organizations, government agencies, and more. In addition, she has been on the Scottdale Early Learning board since 2014, serving as Vice Chair prior to being named Board Chairman.

Livingston will put into action a strategic plan developed by Integrated Organizational Development, www.iodinc.com, a local business that works with Greater Atlanta nonprofits. According to a recent press release, the firm worked “to assess [Scottdale Early Learning’s] capacity to meet the changing needs of DeKalb County’s underserved children age six weeks to 5 years old.”

Integrated Organizational Development provided several recommendations for the learning center in the strategic plan, including an amended mission statement, developing consistent evaluation plans, looking into transportation and summer camp, more fundraising, and creating parent volunteer groups, among other ideas.

With a new Board Chairman and a plan in hand, [Scottdale Early Learning] is ready to rock 2018.

“Cynthia brings a wealth of experience in non-profit financial management to our organization. Plus, she is deeply committed to children’s education and knows the importance of giving young children the tools they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond,” Scottdale Learning Inc. Executive Director Lewis Gibson said in a recent press release. “She and the other Board members are providing outstanding leadership to Scottdale Early Learning as we move forward into our next phase of growth.”
