Decatur Police say a pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on East College Avenue early Friday morning.

The road was temporarily closed following the incident. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Anthony Lingoes of Atlanta.

Lt. Jennifer Ross said, “On Friday, February 2, 2018 at approximately 3:24 a.m., Decatur Police responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 300 block of East College Avenue. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. … The incident is being investigated as a hit and run. The Decatur Police Accident Investigation Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating the incident.”

Ross later clarified that the accident occurred, “east of South Candler Street, in the roadway, not at the pedestrian signal crossing or intersection.”

She said the vehicle has been possibly identified as a 2008 to 2014 Cadillac CTS.

“If you have any information about this incident, please call the Decatur Police Department at 404/373-6551 or contact Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404/577-TIPS (8477),” Ross said.
