A Slam Dunk for Mental Health Recovery will be held this weekend, April 21 and 22

This upcoming weekend, on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, there will be a basketball tournament to promote awareness about Mental Health.

The DeKalb Full Court Press tournament, A Slam Dunk for Mental Health Recovery is put on by the DeKalb Criminal Justice Treatment Coalition, Inc.

Featured teams will include: Brookhaven PD, Chamblee PD, Decatur Fire Dept., DeKalb District Attorney’s Office, DeKalb Fire Rescue, DeKalb PD, Dunwoody PD, GBI, Georgia State University Police, Gwinnett PD, and many more.

The tournament will last from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and will continue from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday in the Decatur Active Living Center, located at 231 Sycamore Street. According to the event website, tickets cost $5 for adults (12 and older), $3 for children (11 – 3), and children under 3 get in free.

Earnings from the tournament will go to support programs and services at the DeKalb County Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, such as transportation, medication/treatment, clothing/hygiene, food and household items, and other assistance.
