The Decatur Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 100 block of Merrill Avenue early Sunday morning, April 15.

Police answered the call around 1:27 a.m.

“Officers met with the victim who reported she was driving east within the 100 block of Scott Boulevard when she was flagged down by the operator of a newer model black Chevrolet Impala (unknown tag) travelling next to her,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “The victim pulled her vehicle onto Merrill Avenue and the driver of the Impala then pulled along the driver side of her vehicle. A passenger in the Impala displayed a handgun and demanded a gold necklace the victim was wearing. The passenger then exited the Impala and took possession of the necklace as well as a Rolex watch the victim was wearing. The passenger then re-entered the Impala which then fled the scene north on Merrill Avenue. ”

Ross provided the following descriptions of the suspects:

Suspect #1 (Driver): Black male, with a mustache and large nose, wearing a blue or purple hooded sweatshirt.

Suspect #2 (Passenger): Black male, early 20’s, approximately 6’00” and 200 lbs., medium complexion, scruffy beard, stud earrings in both ears, wearing a red shirt and blue jean jacket and armed with a black handgun.
