ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
Laban King (pronounced Lay-Ben) was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan by his mother and father, both union executives for Chrysler and General Motors / American Axle. A product of the best private schools, Laban graduated Valedictorian of Loyola High School and received over $300,000 in scholarships to some of the best higher educational institutions in America and aboard. He went on to study History at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor where he became active in many student groups, including the Michigan Student Assembly and the College Democrats. After four wonderful years of college, he moved to New York City where he worked for various artists in the entertainment industry, mastering his skills in communication, social media and consensus building.

Seeking a career change, Laban began working in business development which then led him to co-found a real estate investment firm, Millennial Global Investments. In 2016, Laban recognized a void for minority owned businesses in America which led him to start the United Economic Development Council of America. UEDCOA grew to a membership of almost 60,000 people in less than a year and currently has over 70 businesses in development across the country.

Laban King has a passion for people and believes that everyone should have access to the greater opportunities available in this country. With the political climate making the country so divided, Laban believes that it is time for everyone to come back to the center and do what is best to make sure that progress continues to move forward in this great nation.
