After more than a year of searching, Dad’s Garage Theatre Company has found a new home.

Spokesperson Linnea Frye confirmed to Decaturish that the improv group is under contract to buy a church in Atlanta’s Old 4th Ward, about a mile away from the old venue in Inman Park. Dad’s Garage resided there for 18 years until developers pushed them out. The group temporarily relocated to the 7 Stages Theatre in Little Five Points.

“While there’s still a lot of work to do, including raising the funds needed to purchase the building; the plan is to close on the property by the end of the year,” a press release from Dad’s Garage says.

Dad’s Garage also announced a capital campaign to raise money “to help revive the theater.”

“Any bit you can give helps, but a lot of bits help even more,” Dad’s Garage Artistic Director Kevin Gillese said via press release.
