After months of construction, the apartment complex at West Ponce de Leon Avenue and Ponce de Leon Place will begin leasing its first apartments this Monday, Sept. 8.

That’s also when the website for “The Place on Ponce” will launch, according to a statement from Carter, the company behind the project.

There will be 28 a units available. When all phases are completed, the project will have 234 units in two, five-story buildings.

“The Place will feature contemporary one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and 10,000 square feet of street-level retail space,” a statement from Carter says. “Amenities will include a 4,000 square-foot resident club room, a 1,700 square-foot fitness center, resort-style pool, dog spa, bike repair station and two outdoor courtyards. Phase I is scheduled for delivery in November, with the remainder to be completed in summer 2015.”

A spokesperson for the company did not know what the rent rates will be. Previous estimates indicated the range will be $1,100 to $2,500.

The Place on Ponce is the first apartment project that’s been completed in Decatur since the early 2000’s when the Ice House Lofts were completed.

It isn’t the only project in the works.

After some delays, the Trinity Triangle project along East Trinity Place got under way this week. On Sept. 5 crews began knocking down the city’s beloved Dairy Queen building. The Dairy Queen is expected to return when the 210 unit apartment development opens.
