A Decatur home furnishing and gift store has moved, but not very far. You can now find Trinity Mercantile & Design across the street from its original East Trinity Place location at 116 East Trinity Place, next to the Big Peach Running Co.

In a press release, the store announced the new location doubles the store size to 3,450 square feet and allows for a full-service interior design studio. A representative said that makes the store the second largest retail space in downtown Decatur, after The Cook’s Warehouse and Sherlock’s Wine Merchants. “The new space will allow Trinity to better serve its clients and expand the merchandise in its showroom,” the press release said.

An employee told Decaturish the new location had previously been a 911 call center and a book bindery in the past and that renovations on the new space took about a year.

“More space means we will have more products to purchase from the store, more samples for custom orders, more art and lighting. The large design workroom will allow us to easily meet with our clients, and to open up the space for other designers to work and meet with their clients,” co-owner Lisa Turner said in the release.

“The space itself is inspiring with its dramatic architecture and natural lighting. It is designed in a simple but extremely thoughtful way. It will be our home for quite a while,” co-owner Wallace Bryan is quoted as saying.

The main entrance for the new Trinity is next to the Big Peach Running Co. There is another entrance accessible from Church Street. An employee said Trinity Mercantile & Design will share a parking lot with Big Peach, and parking is free.

The press release also notes Trinity’s hours will be the same: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A spokeswoman for the retailer said details will soon be released on a Grand Opening celebration in October to benefit Press On, a non-profit that funds childhood cancer research.
