The polls in the Nov. 3 elections closed at 7 p.m.

Today voters decided:

– Whether to create a new city of Tucker and LaVista Hills

Tucker is cruising to victory, but LaVista Hills was defeated with 50.5 percent of the electorate voting against the idea.

Allen Venet with LaVista Hills YES has conceded the election.

“Yes, it is disappointing but we understand that the referendum has narrowly lost. We are very disappointed, but we are also proud that our efforts contributed to a vigorous debate about critical issues for DeKalb County,” Venet told Decaturish.

– Whether to reform DeKalb County’s ethics board

This is passing overwhelmingly with more than 90 percent of the vote.

– City Commission races in Decatur and Avondale Estates

It looks like Tony Powers has won the Decatur at-large seat with 86 percent of the vote. Tasha White has won the District 2 seat on the School Board, and Brian Smith has won the District 2 seat on the City Commission.

Avondale Estates’ new city commissioners will be Adela Yelton and Brian Fisher. Incumbent John Quinn has been defeated.

– A $75 million GO bond referendum in Decatur

The Decatur bond referendum also looks likely to pass with 78 percent of voters supporting it.
