The School Board on Tuesday, Feb. 9, unanimously voted to authorize a purchase and sale agreement for 208 Westchester Drive. The purchase price is $489,000. The closing date is March 11, 2016. The sellers are Matthew and Melody Simpkins.

School Board member Lewis Jones said the property will likely be used for overflow parking for the school, which has a small lot.

“The idea is I think is for overflow parking and maybe some access,” Jones said. “There’s nowhere to park. People are always parking up on the grass.”

The School Board has gone under contract for several pieces of property within the last year.

Over the summer, the School Board voted to go under contract for property along Talley Street. In November, the School Board also voted to go under contract for property adjacent to the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center.
