Two apartment complexes in the Atlanta area have a special amenity for residents: Google Fiber.

While the company is working to get its fiber optics network up and running, the company says Fiber is currently available at Wesley Plantation apartments in Duluth and Westbury Park in Marietta. Those cities were not in the original nine the company named when it announced its expansion plans last year.

The company said via Google Plus:

Making great progress in metro Atlanta. We’re even starting to connect a few buildings to help us get ready. If you live in an apartment or condo, check our Apartment Finder to see if your building is on track to get #GoogleFiber:fiber.google.com/cities/atlanta/apartments/

The website Multichannel.com reports that, “The targeted use of existing infrastructure in the area is giving Google Fiber a head start with respect to an initial small number of apartment buildings in the region.”

Google Fiber announced plans to expand to the Atlanta area last January. The planning and build out phase for nine cities – Atlanta, Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, College Park, Decatur, East Point, Hapeville, Sandy Springs and Smyrna – will take at least two years.

Unless you live in Duluth and Marietta, that is.
