From the editor:

Dear Decaturish readers,

Starting today, Aug. 1, Decaturish has launched a second site focused on news about the Atlanta Beltline. Atlanta Loop will be our companion site, covering the Beltline’s 45 diverse neighborhoods.

The Beltline is a project that closely aligns with our core mission at Decaturish. We’ve always viewed our communities as distinct but connected, sharing common values and facing the same challenges. The Beltline has the potential to unite Atlanta as never before, creating a walkable environment that binds communities together.

For a fuller description of our new site, please see my editor’s note on Atlanta Loop by clicking here.

Nothing will change at Decaturish. We will still cover our communities as we always have, telling your stories and holding our public officials accountable. Atlanta Loop will provide us with a link to intown Atlanta, continuing our mission of providing communities with creative, innovative and authoritative journalism.

There will be some overlap between the two sites, but for the most part Atlanta Loop and Decaturish will each have original stories aimed at their respective audiences. It will hopefully create more opportunities for writers and photographers, while allowing me do things I’ve been dreaming about for the last three years: hiring full time reporters and helping to grow the local economy while providing a free, economically sustainable source of local news.

Decaturish would never have gotten here without the help of our loyal readers, particularly our subscribers who pitch in $6 a month to help keep the news free for everyone. For that, I truly and sincerely thank you.

I invite you to make our new site a part of your routine. If you like Decaturish, I think you’ll like Atlanta Loop, too.
