Decatur mom killed, daughter injured during police chase

A Decatur mom was killed and her daughter was seriously injured when a driver fleeing police struck their vehicle on Friday, Jan. 27.

Ashley Tewell was killed and her daughter, Lindsay, 8, was sent to the hospital, according to WSB-TV. Both reside in Decatur.

Georgia State Patrol told CBS 46 that an officer saw a suspicious pick up truck and tried to pull it over. The driver fled on I-20 before pulling into a gas station on Memorial Drive. The driver left the gas station and hit a vehicle head on the before hitting another vehicle, which caused the truck to flip over and catch fire. The driver of the pickup also died.
